When it comes to cooling off in the summertime, you can’t beat anĀ oscillating tower fan.
Having lived in a house with no air conditioning for several years, I am no stranger to using fans to stay cool. I much prefer a fan that gently waves back and forth (oscillates) over one that is stationary and blows only in one direction. And tower fans give you a much broader range of cooling power.
Oscillating fans help keep the entire room cooler and assist in maintaining consistent air flow. When it’s oppressively hot outside, these tower fans are a welcome reprieve.
Oscillating Tower Fan Ionizer Feature
An oscillating tower fan ionizer feature is great if you want to help keep odors, pollen, and other allergens at bay while simultaneously cooling the room. These are especially beneficial for people with respiratory issues.
Ionizers work by releasing negatively charged particles in to the air, which attract the allergens that wreak havoc on your lungs. Once attracted, they bond together and fall to the ground instead of continuing to float in the air where you breathe them in.
Best Oscillating Tower Fans
1. Lasko 2554 42-Inch Wind Curve Fan with Remote Control Review
I chose this Lasko model as the best oscillating tower fan for a couple of reasons.
First, when analyzing oscillating tower fan ratings on Amazon, this fan falls in the top three. The vast majority of people who purchased this fan had nothing but good things to say about it. Most of the negative reviews had more to do with packaging, appearance, and missing parts there were very few complaints about how well the fan operated.

Second, the price point is very reasonable. Among the top three fans, it has the lowest price. Anytime you couple high ratings with the best price, you have a winner.
Third, it has many of the features people look for in an oscillating tower fan. It has:
- A remote control to let you operate the fan from anywhere in the room
- A timer to let you automatically turn it off at specific time
- Ionization technology to help eliminate odors and keep air fresh
- Quiet operation so you can watch TV, sleep, or have a conversation
Ratings and prices are always subject to change, but the fact remains that this fan in unquestionably a smart purchase.
Feel free to check out the Lasko Wind Curve oscillating tower fan reviews for yourself and see if you don’t agree.
2. Ozeri ozf1 42-inch Ultra Wind Fan review
First, let’s be honest. There’s no such thing as a whisper quiet oscillating tower fan. Fans move air… moving air makes noise. Put any fan on a higher setting, it will make more noise. The silent oscillating tower fan is a myth.
However, some fans are quieter than others. Why? Because the noise they produce isn’t just about the moving air. The moving parts in the fan will also make noise and some manufacturers do a better job of noise reduction than others.

Enter the Ozeri with noise reduction technology. The manufacturers of this fan have developed a fan with minimal blade noise, making it one of the quietest fans on the market.
If you read the reviews of this product, you will find some complaints about the noise. I think these are the folks who truly expected complete silence. But the vast majority of reviewers confirmed that this tower fan is quiet.
But Ozeri didn’t stop there. This fan has some other fabulous features, including the following:
- This tall oscillating tower fan can be optionally attached to an extension rod to increase its height
- No tools are needed for assembly
- 12 hour timer that allows setting in 1 hour increments
- The control screen dims at night so your sleep is not disturbed
- Remote control with wider range than most
This fan is the highest rated oscillating floor tower fan on Amazon as of this writing. It costs more than its counterparts, but people — hundreds of people in fact — obviously think it’s worth it.
3. Honeywell Fresh Breeze Tower Fan Review
Honeywell is a very popular manufacturer of all sorts of household appliances, including tower fans.
This black oscillating tower fan, the Honeywell Fresh Breeze Tower Fan, has hundreds of reviews on Amazon and is one of the highest rated fans available. The price is a little higher than similar models, but many people opt for this fan because of Honeywell’s outstanding brand reputation.

Some of the great features of this fan are:
- It has a remote control, so no getting up to turn it on or off
- The filter can be removed and washed
- The ionizer helps keep the air fresh
- Wider degree of oscillation than many of its counterparts to improve airflow throughout the entire room
A couple of complaints centered around stability of the unit (it may become wobbly at high speeds) and difficulty of using the remote if it wasn’t aimed “just right”. But if you want an oscillating tower fan with filter, you should seriously consider this model.
4. Holmes HT38R-U Oscillating Pedestal Tower Fan with Remote Control Review
This oscillating tower fan with timer and remote control has all the standard features of the other fans shown here. It has a timer, three speeds, and a sleek design.
It’s a great fan at a great price — the ratings are good and it’s fairly quiet. So it meets all the criteria for inclusion in an article about quality fans.

But the primary reason this one is called out in its own section is its color — white. Most of the other fans we’ve looked at are black or silver. If you’re specifically looking for a white fan because it fits better with your decor, this is the fan for you.
5. Lasko 2551 Wind Curve Platinum Tower Fan With Remote Control and Fresh Air Ionizer Review
This is another fan from Lasko that gets high marks from reviewers.
It has the requisite features that most people look for in an oscillating standing tower fan, including timer with automatic shut off, remote control, variable speeds, and ionizer. It’s also fairly quiet and energy efficient. For the price, this fan should garner your serious consideration.

Most of the negative reviews of this fan sound like the reviewer was unfortunate enough to get a lemon, although a couple of people said the fan just didn’t meet their expectations for air output or quietness.
You’ll need to decide whether these outliers are enough to discount this fan, but with the number of positive reviews, I felt it was worth including.
6. Lasko 4000 Oscillating Desktop Tower Fan Review
They are perfect for your desk or for bathrooms, kitchens, nightstands… basically any small area where you want to get some air circulating.
My favorite place to use a small oscillating tower fan like this is when I’m doing some summertime reading on my back deck. The amount of air flow is just right to keep me from getting too overly hot, but not so strong that I’m constantly fighting with the pages of my book.

If you’re looking for a top-rated oscillating tower desk fan, the ones featured here are all rated well on Amazon. The Lasko 4000 is your best bet and is reasonably priced. The only recurring complaint is that is isn’t as quiet as some would like when it’s running at the high speed setting.
The Bionaire is rated a bit higher than the Lasko (although the number of reviews is smaller by a factor of 20-ish), but it costs a bit more. I’d probably stick with the Lasko because the reviews are generally positive and you save a couple of bucks.
7. Dyson AM07 Mini Air Multiplier Bladeless Oscillating Fan Review
These oscillating fans from Dyson are bladeless, which is great if there’s a danger of little fingers or furry noses being stuck where they don’t belong.
These fans still move air and have a motor, so bladeless doesn’t equate to noiseless. But the reviews do indicate that these fans are quiet. The other selling point is that their sleek design makes them easy to clean.

These fans are more expensive than others featured here, but Dyson claims that you will save up to 20% on your energy bills. Plus they offer a 2 year warranty on parts and labor. You’ll need to do the math based on your own particular situation, but it may be that the you’ll end up saving in the end.
Bottom Line
All the fans profiled here get great reviews on Amazon for quiet operation and sufficient air flow…
