Much like their popular (if pricey) vacuum cleaners, the Dyson fan line has proven to be worth its value and then some. Unlike fans from other manufacturers, the folks at Dyson have truly thought outside the box to bring the newest and most cutting edge technology to these usually boring and ho-hum household appliances. In the Dyson fan line, you’ll find everything from desk fans to tower, pedestal and oscillating models to even those with a built-in heater or cooling system.
The thing that makes these products really stand out is that they’re bladeless. Not only does this mean they’re easier to keep clean; it also means the air flow is not interrupted, making the force stronger. For you, this means they are much more efficient and can cool or heat up a space in record time. In reviews, users recommend these types of fans over all others.
1. Dyson AM09 Fan Heater Hot and Cool Review

With patented Dyson technology, the AM09 Fan Heater model offers energy efficient, precise heating and cooling that is effective all year round. While it doesn’t offer an air conditioning element to cool down a room, it does operate as a powerful fan which can keep your space cooler overall.
How well does it work?
As both a fan and heater, review after review from people who use this fan in their homes say it does a fantastic job at both tasks. While some reviews say they weren’t initially impressed, as the unit is very small and light, they say they were happily surprised at how smooth and quiet it is for something with so much force. One review even said it heats up the room faster than any heater she has ever used.
One of the best loved features is that you can set the temperature, and the unit will stop running when the temperature is reached. You can select hot or cold temperatures ranging from 33 to 99 degrees, giving you a wide variety of choices depending on how hot or cool you need your room to be.

Difference in Dyson AM09 vs Dyson AM05 Model
While the AM05 is a great machine, there are some big differences in this AM09 upgraded model. First, the AM05 is just a tad shorter at 22.8” and very slightly lighter at 5.5 lbs. The big difference (and the best) is that the AM09 is 75% quieter, which is a huge deal if you’re using this hot and cold fan somewhere like a bedroom or a baby’s room where you don’t want noise waking up the sleeper.
The second biggest difference vs the AM05 is that you can direct the stream of air to be either narrow or wide. This is great if you prefer air blowing in one spot or prefer to have it dispersed throughout an entire room.
2. Dyson AM08 Pedestal Fan Review

Like other Dyson fans, the AM08 uses patented technology to create powerful streams of air without blades getting in the way. It’s also very quiet, a big plus and one of its best features. In fact, it’s 35% quieter than its predecessor, the AM03.
Another one of the best features of this bladeless model is in its energy efficiency. Since it uses 15% less power than the AM03, it should show a savings on your electric bill if you run it frequently.
Like other models in the Dyson fan line, it comes with a remote control, but unlike others, this one has a sleep timer. In other words, you can program it to turn off whenever you’d like. You can select intervals of 15 minutes up to as long as 9 hours for it to run if you use this setting.
Unlike the AM09, this one has the added feature of oscillation. The oscillating setting is very smooth to direct the air flow all around a room.
One other thing that’s a nice added bonus is that you can pivot this fan to direct air in a more upward or downward motion, so if you want it blowing on you, that can happen, but if you prefer it aimed higher or lower, that’s easy to adjust as well. Vs the AM07 Tower Fan, the tilting head of the AM08 allows this more precise direction of airflow, making it a little bit more versatile.
Specs
- Voltage: 110v
- Cord Length: 6.6’
- Height: 55.4”
- Amp Diameter: 17.7”
- Base Diameter: 10.5” with Baseplate (4.2” without)
- Weight: 8.5 lbs
- Color: White/Silver
Included in Box
- AM08 Air Multiplier Pedestal Fan
- Remote Control
- 2 Year Limited Warranty
- Operations Manual
While the AM08 Pedestal Fan is not an air conditioner, its powerful energy efficient flow makes it one of the best oscillating pedestal fans on the market today. Also, because of its bladeless technology, it’s not only safer than other models but easier to clean as well.
3. Dyson AM07 Tower Fan Review

The latest in the Dyson tower fan line of bladeless fans is the AM07 Tower Fan. Like others from this popular company, this one has an extremely powerful airflow and is very quiet. In fact, its 60% quieter than its predecessor, the AM02. Also a plus, it actually uses 10% less power, which is not only nice if you want to leave less of a footprint but you may also save a bit on your electric bill.
Some of its best and most popular features in review after review include its sleep timer, which can be set for intervals from 15 minutes to up to 9 hours and the one-touch oscillating feature. Since it has no blades to spin, it’s very easy to clean and safe, especially if you have kids in the house who may want to get a bit too close to a regular spinning blade fan.
Is this a heater or air conditioner?
The answer is plainly – no. It’s just a fan, albeit one of the most powerful ones on the market today. Unlike the AM09, it does not have any feature for heat. However, it does cool off a room very quickly and maintain it as such. In fact, users who have provided a review say it works much like a ceiling fan in a room and has much the same effect in circulating the air.
Is it quiet?
Many user reviews discuss how impressed the owners are with how quietly this tower operates and how it continues to do so over time. There are no mechanical sounds, rattles or other noises. All you hear is the whoosh of the air coming through. It really is one of the quietest fans on sale today.

4. Dyson AM06 Desk Fan Review

Bottom line – This is the quietest desk fan you’ll find, and it also does an amazing job moving the air. In fact, it’s 75% quieter than the AM01 model and uses 30% less power, giving it a leg up. Some of its best features are a programmable sleep timer with remote as well as a one-touch oscillating control and an easy tilt mode which makes it pivot up and down. Since it’s bladeless, it’s also very easy to clean, and you don’t have to worry about kids or pets getting fingers or tails dinged by any spinning fan blades.
How powerful is it?
In user reviews, one AM06 owner says it clears and circulates the air a good 20-30 feet from the unit itself, and he lives in Atlanta, GA, where it’s very hot in the summer. He says he loves the oscillating feature and it helps save on his air conditioning costs and is amazed at how quiet it is even at the highest setting.
For a desk fan, the only complaint seems to be that it does not plug in to a USB port. Rather, you must have a wall outlet to operate it.

5. Dyson AM05 Fan Heater Review

This is the older model of the new AM09, and there are a few key differences in the new model that make it not only operate more smoothly but also save on electricity. If you can get a great deal on the AM05, it’s still a good buy (especially when it’s on sale), but overall the AM09 is the improved version.
The AM05 hot and cool fan heater air multiplier has essentially the same technology and precise heating controls where you can set the temperature to your liking. Because it’s a heater, it’s great for use in the winter, and while it’s not an air conditioner per se, it does do a great job of moving air around in the summer to keep cool air circulating in any room. In fact, it’s so effective will draw up to 6 gallons of air every second.
Like many of the other models including the AM09, it also has an oscillating feature and can be tilted both backward and forward to direct the air flow. Since its also bladeless, it runs quietly and safely and is very easy to clean off when needed.

Since all the above models are all rather pricey, some people have asked if refurbished or factory reconditioned models are available. While this will likely happen in the future, for right now the units are just too new. Dyson often releases refurbished models when a new model of a particular fan is released, but that hasn’t happened yet. Also Read: Dyson Fan Comparison
